Student College Project

Description:

The SCP (Student College Project) is an ongoing four-year career / college discovery program culminating in each student researching and applying to at least three colleges / universities. The student will be required to "publish" and update this information on their website throughout their time at JMMA.

1. Project must be written / published APA style -
   (EACH PARAGRAPH MUST BE AT LEAST 4 COMPLETE SENTENCES.)


2. Introduction (2 to 3 paragraphs)
• Two to three paragraphs on your thoughts BEFORE you do your research - what type of job do you think you will want one day ? Answer the following questions:
• How important is money / salary ? What type of lifestyle do you want to have ?
• How many hours do you want to work - nights/weekends. What about vacation ?
• How important is a family / children ?


3. About Your Job (3 to 4 paragraphs)
• Complete the Jung Typology Test below:
  • Jung Typology Test
  • After taking the inventory - click "Jung Career Indicator"
• What did you find out? Describe your personality type and the careers that (according to this inventory) fit your type. How does this fit with what you want to become ? Research the hours and salary. How does it compare to what you thought above ? What are your duties / responsibilities?
• Use the resources on the college tab of this website.(You may use others.)


4. Interview (list questions and answers)
• Find and interview an individual in your chosen career field.
• The interview should be 7-10 questions. Answers should be 2 to 3 sentences each.
• The following questions must be included :
• What do you do during your typical work day ?
• What things do you like most / least about your job?
• What is the best advice you can give someone who wants to do your job ?


5. Educational Requirements (6 to 9 paragraphs - 2 to 3 per college)
• Find 3 different Colleges / Universities offering your "major". (College tab above.)
• Describe the colleges - location - population - facilities - classes needed for your major.
• How much does each College cost per year ? books / tuition / fees / dorm / meals / misc.
• What type of degree will you need ? What is it called ? How many years of study does it take ?
• What type of degree must you have ? (B.S./B.A. - M.S./M.A. - PhD - DDS - MD etc.)


6. Conclusion (1 to 2 paragraphs
• What have you learned from your research?
• Is your original career still your first choice?
• How do you feel about the requirements and years of study?
• What are your goals now? Have they changed ?


7. References
• You MUST use at least 1 internet site / interview and 1 book. (You may use more)
